cause in the summer weather/we'll put sunscreen on together/i would not want your skin to burn
A couple of things to note this week...
First, Dream Date at the Astoria moves from Sunday to Tuesday (that's tonight).
Second, Wednesday sees the kick off of the Fake Jazz Festival, which goes all week, and which I probably won't get to check out enough of... but you definitely should, if you can.
This one isn't part of the regular weeklies, but on Thursday, Scion Presents... King Khan, Twin Crystals, and White Lung for free. The reason I'm mentioning it again is because, even though it's free, you need to RSVP to make sure you get in.
And last, but most certainly not least, my friends (and yours) over at Winnie Cooper celebrate the first anniversay of their weekly, No More Strangers, on Saturday at Funky Winkerbean's with Diamond Rings (from TO) and Myths (from right here). I'm digging that Diamond Rings track pretty hard and am super psyched for this. Head over to Winnie Cooper for the .mp3.

it was good what we did today
So I made it down for the first hour and a half or so of the Fake Jazz tribute to the VU on Wednesday night. I actually didn't catch any of the bands/acts that I knew, save for
Hard to complain for $3.
Sissy Spacek, Yellow Swans, the Rita, Sex Negatives, and Shearing Pinx are at the ER on Saturday. It's the Yellow Swans last tour before they call it quits. If you're into noise, you might want to head down.
More show announcements coming...

night screening

I made it down to the Cobalt ever so briefly last night to catch a smidge of "Fake Disco." The Fake Jazz Wednesday off-shoot was just like the usual night, but with some dancier rhythms. Or, at least, N213 was. A combination of lateness and then tiredness meant that's all I caught. It was, as usual, still a steal for $3 though.
M83 is at Richard's on May 24th. And while that is awfully close to Sasquatch, you'll note that it would be pretty tight for his touring schedule to squeeze into the fest's last day. But we'll find out for sure on Monday.
White Lung is playing their first show post-hiatus at the Emergency Room on March 15th. Vapid and Petroleum By-Products help give the ladies a proper welcome back to the stage.
Basketball is playing on the April 4th Cobalt bill. (thanks Sean)
And Sons and Daughters is now April 30th at Richard's.
