Speaking of the big O, Wilco was pretty awesome on Saturday, rain and all. To be perfectly honest, I wasn't super stoked on seeing Wilco with a bunch of people who, for the most part, probably didn't care much about Wilco when they got there, but the audience was great and the band was in their usual top form. Also, kudos to my friend Alison, whose expert alcohol smuggling also helped keep us warm inside the venue.
I tried to catch Cadence Weapon at Alberta House last night, forgetting that Alberta House, despite some sparsely placed heaters, is almost entirely outdoors, so we ended up bailing for warmer pastures before he went on.
There's still a bunch of great, free shows going on (the Cons, Julie Doiron, and Girl Talk, just to name a few), and, like I said, you're already paying for it, so you might as well go out and get your money's worth.
But here are a few non-Olympic things going on before the end of the games...
Tomorrow, Basketball and Sex Negatives play 12 Water St.
Also tomorrow, Moon Duo, the Pacific City Nightlife Vision Band, Stellar OM Source, and Magneticring play the ANZA.
Von Bingen, Haunted Beard, Flash Palace, and nR play the Biltmore on February 25th.
Jeff Andrew, the Creaking Planks, Marie-Josee Houle, and Jason Webley are at Little Mountain on February 28th.

So, despite all the SNAFUs leading up to it, I've been pretty caught up in this Olympic thing (it's here and we're paying for it, we might as well enjoy it), which means, more streaming snowboarding and speed skating at work and more venturing downtown (which is pretty awesome right now) on weekdays and less blogging.
