I completely forgot to mention this great show tonight, even though I'm probably going, and even though someone I know is throwing the thing. So, better late than never, I implore you to check out the lovely (and local) Veda Hille with Azeda Booth (who play this wonderfully fucked up electro-pop), No Gold (formerly Yukon), and i/i (for whom I have nothing to put in these parentheses) at the Lamplighter. $5 before 10pm, $7 after.
Also at the Lamp, this Thursday the Fall Collection headline a show with Adjective, Canaries, and Christmas. To be completely honest, I have little interest in the headliner, but I've been meaning to check out Adjective for awhile... you should go do it. Honestly, it's Thursday, what else are you going to do that early?
Those Chalked Up (aka Expendable Youth) dudes rocked a mix for Radio Zero that's now made it up on Mad Decent and Discobelle. VanCity, represent. They're at Century House ever Thursday (no cover before midnight).
Two Gallants are at the Media Club on September 18th with Blitzen Trapper and Songs for Mom.
Peter from Beyond Robson emailed with info on the Daft Punk After Party in Seattle this Sunday. So, if you're heading down and you need to keep dancing after the show ends, just click here to RSVP.
Speaking of Daft Punk, if you can't make it across the border on Sunday (or even if you can), you can get your robot disco fix on Wednesday when the Makeout hosts a DP party at the Royal Unicorn.
Finally, if you can help the Clips book a show in Calgary on September 25th (they're looking to open for a local headliner) please email them at: contact [AT] theclips.ca
Finally (for real), the Ryan Adams show may or may not happen this Saturday (and I guess that goes for anything else at the Orpheum too) because of the strike action by city workers... I know one generates way more money than the other, but it's sort of lame that they can keep the anarchic shit show that is the Celebration of Light going (with nobody to clean up the mess in the morning - genius!) while everything else shuts down. Plus, no one is going to get stabbed at a Ryan Adams show (probably). Although, I guess it'll be behind a picket, and I wouldn't cross one of those anyhow. (thanks to Craig and the anonymous commenter)

Just a heads up that the strike is affecting shows at the Orpheum / QE - that includes Ryan Adams this Saturday. No word on what is happening re. that show, but the venue won't be open, that's for sure.

, atI knew there was something I forgot... thanks.
You're welcome (and I'm no longer anonymous)...and why does this have to happen the one time I manage to snag 6th row centre seats? I know some shows are being shifted to the Centre or Chan, so will wait & see what happens I guess.
