i've been bad

Metric played not one, but two sold out shows at the Commodore yesterday. I think this is the seventh time I've seen them, and as usual, if you ask me, they were stellar. Of course, I think this is the seventh time I've seen them, so I'm obviously going to be a little biased. Nice to hear the new stuff now that I've had a chance to live with the album for awhile (I had the leak on my computer before seeing them in September, but hadn't given it a good listen yet). This is also the first time I've seen them close with something other than "Dead Disco," which was interesting. Also, I was a little surprised when someone from CFOX came out to introduce the band... apparently Metric now rocks the Fox, funny that it only took them four singles to catch on. Oh... also, while I'm not a big fan of the moshing either, to answer the girl in front of me yelling "who's pushing?!?"... those 500 people behind you are pushing.

I was a little too far to the left to get any shots of anyone other than James Shaw and Emily Haines.

Most Serene Republic, who are also opening for Broken Social Scene in November, played second last night. I wasn't overly excited about Underwater Cinematographer, and while they were super energetic, I can't say the live show really changed my mind on the band... ditto for the Lovely Feathers who were on first.

Happy Halloween... I was going to post the Cadence Weapon Remix of "Do They Know It's Halloween?"... but Fluxblog beat me to it.

now playing: the Police - Can't Stand Losing You

yep, that was another great metric show. i was pleasantly surprised by the Lovely Feathers though - i listened to their myspace and i thought it was absolute shit.

no wet blanket, but no biggie. staring at emily haines was enough for me. was hoping to pick up the silhouette t-shirt and static anonymity, but there's always ebay and metric's online store for that stuff.

quinn, seeing as how you've been to 7 metric shows, was it standard for them to just perform and not banter with the audience? feist bantered a bit, tegan and sara banter non-stop, but emily & co. didn't say much, if anything.

and does anyone else wish radio and tv would play as much metric as they do ashlee simpson?? maybe it's just me.

sometimes they're a little more chatty, but that's pretty standard... emily rants during Dead Disco sometimes.

if feist isn't opening for bss, who will sing the female parts of their songs?

they have a new girl this tour ... lisa I think her name is?

Wow, those photos are WONDERFUL!

Why does Emily Haines always wear the exact same thing? Who does she think she is, Jim James?

i had my camera, but i left it in my friend's purse. i wasn't about to lose my spot in the crowd to go find her.

if you jump over to the forums on metric's website, you'll find some pictures that people have taken from other metric concerts. there's some pics of emily wearing nothing more than a simple t-shirt and jeans.

by the way, simon, your metric photos are brilliant!! any chance i can get the full-size versions? some of them would make awesome 8x10's.

i wish i took some better pics at the feist concert. i don't have a single picture that's suitable for framing and displaying.
